Among the vast universe of Android devices available today, Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones consistently distinguish themselves as some of the most refined and powerful contenders. Their success is largely attributed to Samsung’s sophisticated One UI software, renowned for its exceptional responsiveness, rich customization options, and comprehensive feature set. Nonetheless, while flagship models such as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 offer an impressive array of cutting-edge capabilities, many of these enhancements—though admirable from a technological standpoint—are not necessarily required for everyday use. As a result, it is common for users to notice that despite their devices’ high efficiency, battery life may not always extend comfortably through an entire day of mixed activities and heavy connectivity.

Fortunately, there are multiple ways to improve endurance and optimize power consumption on your Galaxy phone without compromising its performance or usability. The following guide outlines seven practical yet impactful adjustments designed to preserve battery capacity while maintaining the smooth, feature-rich experience that Galaxy devices are celebrated for. Rather than offering simplistic advice like lowering the display resolution or reducing the refresh rate, these tips aim to introduce effective optimizations that subtly enhance longevity without detracting from your user experience.

1. Use Dark Mode
Most Samsung Galaxy smartphones are equipped with vibrant AMOLED displays, a technology that allows individual pixels to be turned on or off independently. While some of these may prove useful, many operate in the background unnecessarily, silently consuming energy and processing power. Reviewing these apps and uninstalling or disabling those you seldom use can substantially reduce such background activity. To mitigate this drain, it’s advisable to download media and maps while connected to a stable Wi-Fi network before leaving home. Whether you are commuting along a familiar route or listening to recurring playlists, saving this data locally will not only conserve power but also reduce mobile data usage and prevent your device from heating up. Apps such as YouTube and Spotify offer straightforward download options for offline playback, and Google Maps allows offline navigation for specific regions or routes.

6. Schedule Always-On Display (AOD)
One of Samsung’s most distinctive visual features is the Always-On Display, which conveniently presents essential information such as time, notifications, or battery level without waking the phone fully. On high-end devices like the Galaxy S25 Ultra equipped with adaptive LTPO panels capable of lowering refresh rates to 1Hz, AOD modes operate relatively efficiently. However, on mid-range devices limited to 60Hz displays, power consumption may still be considerable. To balance convenience and conservation, schedule your Always-On Display only for hours when you actively expect notifications—say, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.—and disable it outside that window. You can configure this by going to Settings > Lock Screen and AOD > Always On Display > When to Show > As Scheduled. Additionally, disable the lock screen wallpaper preview within the AOD menu to further minimize needless power use.

7. Select the Appropriate Performance Profile
Samsung includes a performance management feature that allows users to choose between distinct system profiles tailored to specific needs. If your daily smartphone activity primarily involves browsing, messaging, and casual tasks rather than gaming or heavy processing, selecting the Light Performance profile can yield valuable energy savings.
